France and their non-winter

Snow, eh?

Welcome to the great white southern France …??? This week, yesterday actually, frozen precipitation fell from the sky and made its way to the ground. Where, upon reaching its destination, proceeded to melt. The temperature was a meagre negative one Celsius, and all the Americans residing in France were complaining loudly. By Canadian standards of weather, it was a beautiful jour.

I realize that it has been some time since I posted something. But the following explanation should alleviate any concerns. Last Sunday evening, I commenced the weekly writing of the blog, when, somehow, it turned into some intense philosophising that carried me into the wee hours of the morning. The results were some conclusions on life, faith and coping through the next week.

This week however was incredibly intense and full of school. I have a paper due on Tuesday and also an integration test. The test will be impossible for I have not yet understood anything being taught in the class and the paper is a commentary on one paragraph of the 304 page novel.

Great news!! We have officially purchased plane tickets to the old old country (Nederlands) !!!! It is going to be great. (For all handsome Dutch men reading this post, *cough* Remco *cough*, we’ll be visiting from the Dec 22 to Jan 5) Melissa has already talked to Tante Lies and Ome Jan, who have excitedly offered us a place to stay. So we will be cared for. I’m incredibly excited to visit Holland, to see family and random friends, but to actually see how it runs, to view normal sized people and purchase some normal footwear – SHOES and BOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!! (Jason, I need more hooker boots).

Oh, today’s big event was that the anglos in the church had their practice for the carolling that we’ll be doing for the Christmas celebration. After two hours, we finally had arrived at the point where our four part rendition of Joy to the World was perfect. You had to believe it. (Patience levels seriously depleted.)
We also met Eric and Emily Joldersma and their adorable children – Jack, Eva and Maisie. He is a professional basketball player from Michigan playing for the St Étienne team. He is also completely Dutch reformed with his dad being a retired CRC pastor!! Who knew you would find them all over the world??? Anyways, they are a great couple to hang out with and their kids are so cute, who know how to laugh and cause self-suffering through tickling. We have officially offered our babysitting services.

Thus ends this weeks post.
A good week to all, and to all patience for the week to come.
